Hard to believe we're already to the last day of 2012, innit? It's been a bit of a crazy year here, what with our first convention, and our first outdoor show, and... oh yes, the really big first.
Our first Hearts for Haiti donation!
Thanks to you wonderful people, Blue Box Imaginarium has just sent off a check for $180 to Faith and Love Orphanage! It seriously took me a ridiculously long time to decide where to send the money, where it might do the most good. While I love the JCC and Bonite and the Art Creation Foundation for Children, this year I felt that perhaps F&L didn't get quite as much attention and love as those other two organisations, so for this year, they got the whole lump sum. If things expand and do better next year and into the future (as I most certainly hope they do!), I'll probably rotate who gets the donation, or possibly even have enough to send a reasonable amount to each one! Wouldn't that be lovely?
Anyway, that's the big news, the most important news. Everything else is just extras!
It's been chilly here, which makes working with the water in my Genie rather unpleasant, but work is still getting done. In fact, I've just recently finished up a couple of fun pieces. Perhaps you'll recognise what some of the charms on this bracelet represent? (Being a nerd is fun!)
I've also got another fun nerdy-ish project that I finished up - an alto clef pendant! Treble clefs are easy, but alto clefs? Oof! Unfortunately, I've not been able to figure out how to cut the stone itself to look like the clef, or to be incorporated as part of the clef. Instead, I'm using a stone as the base, with a wire representation of the clef on the face of it. (No pictures as yet, or at least not any that are suitable for public consumption!)
And since I am a huge nerd, I've got another Super Sekrit project that I'm tweaking and playing with (like always, eh? Nothing new there...) that *might* get a sort of debut tomorrow. We'll see how I feel about it.
There's lots of things coming up in the new year as well; time to start making plans and arrangements and figure out where I'll be when. With any luck, Blue Box will be at a number of shows / conventions this year; keep an eye out, I'll post here to let you know where we'll be!
May you all have a very merry New Year; be willingly good, extra good, extra peaceful and extra forgiving!
The Blue Box Blogger sometimes has a strange sense of humour that comes out here rather than the workshop.
